The foundation of Anne’s practice is exploring relationships to environment and nature, she uses plants and natural pigments and materials to tell the stories of place, people and the interwoven connections. Using traditional and experimental techniques she works with textiles mixed media, fibre weaving and creates bodies of work that often include series that through process and repetition create learning pathways for her, to fully embody and understand the surrounding world and the interconnectedness of everything. Anne initially training as a fashion designer, and then pursuing other avenues, including a Certificate in Fine Art (Drawing), Sculpture at Tom Bass and a Bachelor in Fine Art at Sydney’s College of the Arts (majoring in glass) and various other workshops and master classes to learn the art of craft. Anne’s work is underpinned by her passion to use sustainable practices, taking care to be accountable for the materials used and the byproducts created. Anne is also the Founder of “Tree Place” a community creative project collaborating with an ancient tree.
