Celebrating the wonderful wildflowers of the region with morning displays and demonstrations and afternoon experiences on country making art - Rainbow Beach on Saturday 29 August, 2020.
For bookings see Eventbrite

This event has a focus on celebrating our native wildflowers which are currently blooming, and on artmaking inspired by the stunning Cooloola wildflowers and natural environments. This day is being offered as a precursor to the 'Wild/flower Women III' exhibition to be held at Gympie Regional Gallery later in the year.
The day will feature a morning at the Rainbow Beach Community Centre with information, pictures and art inspired by the native wildflowers of the region. Artists will be conducting demonstration workshops and talk about their work.
We have set up a booking system to manage numbers inside the hall as per COVID 19 guidelines. Please book to come in at one of the 30 minute slots, however visitors are welcome to stay more than 30 minutes and may enjoy the outdoor undercover area and park outside.
After lunch (to be sourced by participants) a series of fieldwork visits will be conducted to various locations within 30 minutes drive from Rainbow Beach. Participants need to organise their own transport or car pooling and meet at the given site for a two hour session of art making on country. Artists will provide some framing activities but participants are welcome to bring basic art materials, camp chair to engage in their own art etc. Further details of locations, requirements and artists will be emailed to those who register.
Fieldwork participants are welcome to reconvene at the hall to share and debrief from 4-5.00 pm.
PLEASE NOTE:
  • We need to manage numbers and ensure COVID social distancing recommendations are implemented, so require registration for this event and specific sessions.
  • The organisers reverse the right to prevent entry or restrict entry.
  • Please stay at home if you display COVID 19 symptoms, are unwell or have a cough, fever, sore throat, fatigue or shortness of breath.
  • We can not provide entry to anyone who has been overseas in the last 14 days, or has been in close contact with a confirmed case or COVID hotspot.
  • You must maintain appropriate hygiene and physical distancing while in attendance.
  • For paid bookings after refund date (7 days) if you are unable to attend the afternoon session rather than provide a refund, documentation and alternative materials will be posted to you.
The event is co-hosted by Wild/flower Women and Cooloola Coastcare, with support from Gympie Regional Gallery, and funding through the Gympie Region's RADF program. (The Regional Arts Development Fund is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Gympie Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland).
We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Cooloola region the Kabi Kabi and Butchulla peoples, and generations of elders past, present and emerging who continue their connection with and custodianship of country.
