Place-based Design & Creations
Marni Stuart, Nikita Fitzpatrick, Sue Davis (Wild/flower Women)
Old Ambulance 'Takeover', November 2023

This 'takeover' will see the shapes, textures and colours of our region translated onto surface patterns  and designs. The project will bring together the shared expertise of Sunshine Coast based pattern designer Marni Stuart, First Nations artist Nikita Fitzpatrick of New Dreaming Art, and Dr Sue Davis of Wild/flower Women. During the takeover month the ramp space will be transformed through the installation of locally designed patterns and fabrics, which will be complemented by new creations emerging from a series of place-based walks and workshops. Artist impressions will be transformed into fabric and designs both digital and analogue. From 16 November (Long Table Dinner night) the space will be open as an installation where you can be immersed in the imaginative transformation of our plants and places.

The Takeover initiative hosted at the Old Ambulance Station, has been supported through the Creative Industries Investment Program and is jointly funded by ArtsCoast through Sunshine Coast Council’s Art and Heritage Levy and the Regional Arts Development Fund in partnership with Queensland Government.
